Da più di 80 anni nelle Arti Grafiche

Founded in 1939 in Milan, our company has been present in the Graphic Arts market for over 70 years now.
We started the production of rubber for stamps in 1939 in Milan and since then we have kept growing over the years, eventually becoming the leading European company in the production of rubber compounds for the flexographic and stamp industry.
First distributors of TOK photopolymer plates in Italy, in the early 80s we presented the first analog plates for business forms and labels, we introduced new plates for all letterpress and flexographic applications and we assisted our customers in the adoption of cutting-edge printing technologies: digital CTP and direct laser engraving for perfect dot control.
Thanks to our extensive experience in the market, we have been able to expand our line of products, with the notable addition of metal plates and all related additives for photoengraving, high precision doctor blades and cleaning products for printing components (including plates, anilox rolls and machine parts), special plates for security printing, as well as machines for the processing of analogue photopolymers, CTP and direct engraving.

3 generations story
Born in Mestre (VE) in 1906, Amedeo Tommasi leaves his job at Pirelli to set up his own company in Milan in 1939: the company is named IDA DIMATORE, after his mother.
In 1955, IDA DIMATORE becomes DIMATORE & TOMMASI.
A leader in the flexo and letterpress market, the company keeps growing thanks to new compounds like FBA, matrix boards, vulcanised rubber plates and moulding rubber for flexo printing. Therefore, the production dept. moves into a larger plant in Via Ludovico di Breme 11 in Milan.
On April 24th 1962, Amedeo Tommasi sets up DITOM S.p.A. The name DITOM comes from DImatore and TOMmasi. DITOM moves into a new 10.000-square-metre factory in Mazzo Milanese (Rho) which allows the production of moulding rubber in response to growing demand for rubber at Italian and European level.
Around 1970, a new collaboration starts with Williamson Engineering Corp. from Caldwell (USA) with a wide range of moulding press and new matrix boards for the market.
New products are introduced like hand engraving rubber for what is now called security printing and rubber sheets with cloth inserts.
The growing demand for flexo printing rubber leads Carlo Tommasi – who holds a degree in chemistry and a master from the Institut National de Formation de Caoutchouc in Paris – to create more than 100 different specific compounds for every kind of inks.
As a result of a series of developments in the market, in 1981 Ditom becomes the 1st Italian distributor of Tokyo Ohka Kogyo (JP) photopolymer plates: Miraclon, Elaslon and Rigilon.
Adolfo Tommasi takes care of photopolymer division, Miraclon and Rigilon for the italian market.
New cooperations start in the '80's:
- Anderson & Vreeland for viscosity controllerò and plates mounting units.
- SD Graphics Ltd for the distribution of metals like zinc, magnesium, brass and copper for moulding, hot stamping and embossing. SD Graphics will be acquired later on by: REVERE GRAPHICS. Later on, they will merge to MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON LTD and later, LUXFER GROUP
- Uniroyal for Flexlight photopolymer plates for flexo.
- Rogers Corporation per R-BaK materials
In the 90s, the product range expands to include new products like solvent-based flexo photopolymer plates, doctor blades, anilox rolls and plate washing machines.
New important cooperations start some years later:
Ditom introduces Aquaflex water washable plates for Dantex in Italy.
on washing machines
Thanks to the collaboration with LEAD LASERS B.V. in the Direct Laser Engraving field, new plates are introduced that are ideal for perfect dot creation.
In 2009, DITOM celebrates its 70 anniversary and strengthenes ties with esteemed partners in the grafic arts and printing worlds:
LEAD LASERS BV, Direct laser engraving machines for polymers, elastomers and sleeves
MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON LTD, Magnesium, copper, brass and zinc plates for photoengraving, CNC engraving for embossing and hot foil printing.
TROIKA SYSTEMS LTD, Control instruments for anilox and plates.
Ditom becomes Italian distributor for FLEXOCLEAN, NL
and a new important project starts.
Ditom presents his new range of cleaning machines for anilox: Ditomsounds anilox cleaning machines.
Shortly, new spraying machines are built and introduced to flexo printers: plates and flexo parts cleaning machining: Linda.
In 2011, Ditom becomes THE ONLY OFFICIAL DISTRIBUTOR FOR MIRACLON AND RIGILON for KODAK which acquires all T.O.K. productions plants.
Ditom starts to cooperate with LEAD LASERS BV, NL for DLE machines and presents “The perfect dot” at ATIF Flexo Day ATIF
Ditom has a long cooperation with A.T.I.F. , Italian Technical Association for Flexography.
Cristiano Bottazzini shared his experience with printers to sensitise flexo printers to the control and the cleaning of anilox rolls, to the flexo plate checks through special 3D instruments and to the importance of the maintenance of the printing press in order to obtain constant printing results.
Ditom srl becomes the Italian distributor
for AQUAMAG Magnesium and brass plates
for hot stamping and embossing.
about us
Our house, Ditom events and our team
