Hard clichés even if they have never been used for printing?
Plates that are difficult to mount because they are too stif?
Clichés that crack during reprints?
Polymers that crack during reprints?
Do they have a different release compared to the first use?

Discover how to use your clichés multiple times
while maintaining
the same quality.

Not being able to use the same cliché for reprints is a significant problem. It not only leads to material waste but also causes a significant loss of time for the operator, who must redo the plates at the last minute instead of using the existing set.

To achieve excellent results, you don’t need significant investments or special efforts. It’s enough to apply a few simple tips that will help you save time and money.

Minimum effort, maximum yield!

Step #1.
Make sure to use the right detergent.

Many people think that pure solvents and fast-drying products are a godsend because they allow for quick plate cleaning, but my unbiased advice is to stay away from these products.

I understand, you’re always in a rush and have a lot on your plate. Of course! Saving time whenever possible is essential. It would be a shame not to take advantage of time-saving opportunities! You’re absolutely right. Sometimes, trying to save time can result in significant costs or damage in the long run. It’s important to prioritize the proper care and maintenance of your equipment and materials to avoid any potential damage or negative consequences. It’s worth investing the necessary time and effort to ensure the longevity and quality of your plates.

Pure solvents and fast-drying products may seem convenient for quick cleaning, but they can have detrimental effects on the lifespan of the plate By using the right detergent specifically formulated for the type of plates you’re using, you can effectively clean the plates without compromising their properties

but there are more

The right detergent cleans the plate without you having to put in excessive elbow grease like a washerwoman from days gone by. in other word

No rubbing, no mechanical damage to the halftone dots. No matter how stubborn your inks are.. There is a specific detergent available for your inks as well.

Perhaps you’re wondering how to identify this elusive “right detergent.”

Here are a few clues: a good solvent-free detergent usually has no unpleasant odor and does not display any specific hazard symbols.

Secondly, it can be used both in a washing machine and for manual cleaning.

To further assist you in navigating through the various cleaning products, check the solvent tolerance of the clichés you are using. You will be able to see the maximum and recommended concentrations (as a percentage of weight) for different types of cleaning solvents.

Step #2
Never leave the plate wet.

All water-developed plates can be damaged if they are left wet during the storage phase Exactly, whether you clean the plates manually after printing or use a plate washer, ensuring they are completely dry before storing them is crucial for optimal preservation. Absolutely, even if you have a plate washer, it’s important not to take anything for granted. Paying attention to this simple precaution will allow you to achieve even more impressive results from your plates.

step #3
Protect your plate from moisture and UV rays.

During my early days, my not-so-kind supervisor used to repeat a formula that stuck with me: “Plates are not your balcony geraniums.” To treat them well, the golden rule for storage is “less water and NO LIGHT.”

Once you have finished cleaning it, store the plate in a plastic bag or[se è NERO ancora meglio!]older, ensuring that the clichés are protected from UV rays.

That’s correct! Exposing the plates to light, especially UV light, can cause them to degrade or become damaged over time.

I saved a TRICK for you for the grand finale, in case you find yourself with clogged and dried-up plates that no longer seem suitable for printing.

Did you know that you can still try to “revive” them?

It’s quite simple: you can try putting them back into the photopolymer processing system and run a cleaning cycle on them. If it works, you will see that the cliché will be thoroughly cleaned and will regain its vitality, ready for printing once again.

As I mentioned, these are really simple and intuitive measures that you can start implementing right away. And I’m confident that you’ll notice the difference right away.
